How to Make A Coffee Bean Body Scrub

coffee coconut body scrub on wood slab portrait with titleThis month I have embarked on a clean eating, booty busting regime from Ms Ashy Bines, currently in week two I am noticing some changes. After one week of eating clean and following her exercise schedule I am waking up with more energy, I am getting more done in my day (even though 2 hours of it is dedicated to getting sweaty at the gym) and I feel more positive. It’s good to stop and think about what you are putting in your body, but enough of that healthy/happy person jibber jabber; I just wanted to share this coffee coconut body bar that I made today.

What is exfoliation?

Exfoliation is removing dead skin cells from your body.

Why do I need to exfoliate?

Brighten up dull and tired skin and repair the moisture barrier of the skin by buffing away dead skin cell buildup. Buildups can cause break outs as it acts as a barrier trapping oil against the skin. By exfoliating you are encouraging the formation of new healthy skin cells which leaves your skin glowing.

I made this Coffee Bean Body Scrub from my old discarded Nespresso capsules, you can use any type of ground or granulated coffee. This is super easy to make and cheap compared to store bought.

Supplies – makes 12 mini cakes

– 300ml fresh ground beans ~or~ instant coffee granules ~or what I used~ the used coffee out of my Nespresso coffee pods!

– Extra Virgin Coconut Oil (300ml)

– 1tbs organic vanilla essence

– Mini muffin tin tray or selection of jars

Throw all your ingredients into a blender or hand mix until all mixed. Add fragrance to suit your taste or leave it fragrance free for sensitive skin. Fill a muffin tin with spoonfuls of the mixture and let set in the fridge, once set you can scoop out and store in a jar. Alternatively you can let your mixture set in a jar.

Please note: Due to the nature of coconut oil these have to be stored in the fridge otherwise they run the risk of melting.
