DIY Recipes & Uses – Dr Bronner’s Pure Castile Soap

Can I begin with mentioning how much I dig this product? If you are already an aficionado on this magic soap then please feel free to scroll down to the DIY beauty recipes and uses below, if you are a newbie to what this product is all about, read on:

I bought the Dr. Bronner’s Unscented Baby-Mild Castile Liquid Soap as it contains no fragrance. I prefer fragrance free as it makes for a more multi functional ingredient for DIY projects; and better for people with allergies or sensitive skin, great for babies as well! All Dr Bronner’s soaps are certified organic under the USDA National Organic Program. All soaps are also certified Fair Trade. Packaged in 100% post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic bottles.

body-wash-dr-bronnerI have this sitting in the shower caddy and I use perhaps three pumps (as I have reused an old pump bottle) onto a loofah. It is runnier than a store bought body wash – you can use less water and more soap to make this a creamier concoction if you wish. It has a wonderful lavender smell which is very relaxing before bed and a slight lather.

DIY Foaming Facial Cleanser Recipe

The trick to making it foaming is all in the pump, so buy a foam action container or salvage one from a used product to make this recipe work.

Shopping List

  • Dr Bronner’s Pure Castile Liquid Soap
  • Distilled water
  • Lavender essential oil

Method

  1.  The easiest way to make this is to pour 1/4 cup of Dr Bronner’s Pure Castile Liquid Soap into your prepared container
  2. Top up the remaining container with distilled water
  3. Drop 5-10 drops of lavender or essential oil of your choosing

It is that easy. It is gorgeous on my skin, I do avoid my eyes as much as possible because no matter how organic, or fair trade you go – it is still soap!

DIY Makeup Brush Cleaner

So handy to have a little spray container in with your makeup brushes. Since having it so close and handy I have been cleaning my brushes after each and every use, something that might have been done once a fortnight prior.

Shopping List

  • Dr Bronner’s Pure Castile Liquid Soap

Method

  1. To make this – just pour the one and only ingredient into a little travel spray container.
  2. Lightly dampen brush, spray 1-2 times with your new make up brush cleaner and work in. Wash off and let dry laying flat.

TIP: Don’t dry your make up brushes standing up as the water erodes the glue over time thus causing shedding next time you do your face, not cool.
