Everyone’s Talking About Upcycling!

Everyone’s Talking About Upcycling!

Does the thought of upcycling fill you with dread? Are you the kind of person that has to buy everything new? Do you shudder at the thought of trying to find a place for Aunt Barbara’s old chest of draws in you home? Fear not. Upcycling makes things as good if not better than new without the waste.

Eco-minded people all over the world are finding novel ways to make old stuff no one wants into new stuff with a great new use. I guess it’s true what they say, “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure!”.

Here are some cool things you can do with everyday rubbish that are both beautiful and decorative for your home and garden.

If your garden is looking a bill dull and lifeless, why not start growing your own veg by using a DIY wooden pallet veggie patch? Its simple to plant and you get to eat your own produce! Double win!

Are the kids are driving you round the bend in the holidays? Do you need something to keep them entertained? Then how about using an old tyre to make a sandpit for them to play with? You get the bonus that they can happy play outdoors so that you can sneak inside for a cuppa and a quick sit down!

There are also great ideas that you can implement in in the home office. Use a phonebook to make a simple desk tidy, or cut a line into a tennis ball to turn it into a holder.

Don’t think the kitchen escapes the upcycling treatment either.

Nail old jar lids to the bottom of your shelves and screw the jars on to keep the counter clear. Double points if you put cute chalkboard labels on them! These are perfect for keeping your herbs and spices organised. Another great idea is to use an old wooden ladder,  mounted on the ceiling to hang your pots and pans off. The possibilities are really endless.

You can’t upcycle it all

Now don’t get me wrong, I’m all for recycling and upcycling; but it’s important to be realistic. Even the most hardened upcyclist can’t find a use for everything. Upcycling can be time-consuming, and you may not be the most creative person in the world, even if you do spend your evenings scouring Pinterest.

If you have something that just isn’t right for upcycling you may need the help of Paul’s Rubbish, rubbish removal services. They can pick up your old items and take them for disposal for you. Don’t struggle unnecessarily, make it easy on yourself.

Remember, before you throw anything away, take a peek and see if something similar is selling on eBay. If this is the case then why not earn some money from your old stuff by selling it to the highest bidder? Everybody wins.
