Revive plain hurricane vases with this easy step by step tutorial and create an elegant table accents perfect for garden dinner parties, weddings or festive centrepieces.

Inspired by the ever-popular theme of bringing the outdoors in, these lovely touches are what your guests will be talking about your decorative vases long after the event.

For this DIY project you will need:

  • 3 x glass hurricane vases in varying sizes
  • 3 x pillar candles
  • Spray adhesive
  • Drop sheet/protective paper
  • Leaves
  • Pliers

step1-2 STEP 1

Lay leaves front side down on a drop sheet or a protected surface. Spray the backs with adhesive spray until saturated.

Press and hold the leaves, applying pressure as you layer the leaves around the hurricane vase. Ensure 1-2cm of each leaf hangs over the base for good coverage. Allow to dry completely.

With pliers, trim the base overhang and insert pillar candles.

TIP: Gently resting hurricane horizontally over leaves and applying pressure will help stubborn leaves stick.

Another good idea is to fill the base of your hurricane vase with sand or clean kitty litter to keep the candle in place.
