DIY Project: Origami Star Advent Calendar

As featured on Houzz, this advent calendar will have your little ones so pumped for the new day to open up the next star as well as doubling as a modern tree wall hanging! The store bought advent calendars are so generic and full of cheap, nasty chocolate; make this year – the year you make!

diy-advent-cal-mainI have designed a 3D star that is super easy to print and create. My tips for the tutorial is make your folds crisp by using a ruler, use strong glue and wait till the first tab is fairly dry before moving on to the next step. The origami stars have one side that is left open. You can tell which side not to glue, as it has a little thumb tab; perfect for easy access to the prize inside! Don’t pack anything too heavy in these little guys as they are only made of paper and are hanging from a mini peg.

Please see the step by step tutorial below. Use the small arrows underneath the image to click to the next step, or head over to Houzz to view the project on the big screen or via the app.

Would love to hear what you think about my little DIYs that I’ve been doing over at Houzz.
